Sea & Oceans

Sea and oceans shoots require the permission of the French maritime authority, la Direction Départementale des Affaires Maritimes – Bureau du Sauvetage et de la Circulation Maritime.

Requests should be submitted at least 15 working days before the desired shoot date. Afterwards, the request is transferred to the sea prefect office.

Lighthouses and beacons also fall under the jurisdiction of the Direction Départementale des Affaires Maritimes. The film permit procedure is the same. Though safety and security are the responsibility of the production, the Regional Centers of Surveillance and Rescue Operations (CROSS) will provide security for a fee.

Arranging an ocean shoot can be complicated, and employing a specialist to coordinate the administrative and safety procedures is highly recommended.
