Between 1940 and 1941, an American network based in Marseille organised the escape of thousands of refugees. To tell the story of this little-known chapter in the history of the WWII, series creator Anna Winger wanted to film in natural settings in the south of France. Over 4 months, the city of Marseille played host to the filming of this ambitious historical series. Here’s how.
Season one of The Serpent Queen, the American series dramatizing the life of Catherine de Medici throughout her reign, was shot in France. On the occasion of Paris Images (a yearly professional event to showcase the French film and audiovisual industries’ dynamism) and while the second season is already underway, we have met with executive producer John Bernard (Peninsula Film) to discuss the process of recreating this prosperous period on screen.
