1981. Romy Schneider, 42 ans, est contrainte de partir en cure à Quiberon. Le journaliste Michael Jürgs, 35 ans, et le photographe Robert Lebeck, 52 ans, la rejoignent pour réaliser une interview pour le magazine allemand Stern. Angoissée à l’idée de cet entretien, Romy fait venir son amie d’enfance, Hilde Fritsch, pour la soutenir durant ces trois jours.
